Winners announced for Laughlin Film Festival

LAUGHLIN, Nev. – Team LIFF is proud to announce the winners for the third annual Laughlin International Film Festival, which was held from Oct. 16-19, 2014.

“We are so pleased with the turn out we have had this year,” said Erik Karsen Puhm, director of LIFF. “There were so many great film entries submitted and we hope to keep seeing it grow as we prepare for next year.”

The event kicked off on Oct. 16 with the red carpet premiere of “Deuce of Spades” a hot-rod 1950's era film by French filmmaker Faith Granger. Following the film Granger answered several questions from the packed audience and signed autographs.

“It is a joy to see these movies have a good audience showing. It helps support those who create these independent movies,” said Dave Davidson, director of operations for the film fest. “We'd love to see more local filmmakers involved and get a chance to show their masterpieces.”

And that is just what two Needles residents did over the weekend.

Brian Brown, a third year LIFF participant previewed his fourth film “Verdict”, while newcomer Andrea Z. Smith premiered her first-ever crime documentary “Verdict: The Terrifying Story of Sunny Coleman”.
