Robbery Suspect Killed in Laughlin

Laughlin, NV  

Update:  2/4/14.  
The Metro Police officer involved in the shooting has been identified as 37-year-old Samuel Solorio. The suspect has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s office as 28-year-old Zachary Ryan Andrews. Officer Solorio is on routine paid administrative leave pending a review of the shooting. He has been a member of the Metro Police since July of 1998.

Metro police shoot and kill a robbery suspect near the South Pointe Market.

According to Las Vegas Metro Police, around 11PM  Friday night (1/31/14) a robbery suspect was shot multiple times near the South Point Market in Laughlin, NV.  Police had responded to call and upon locating the suspect, he produced a gun.  Police Captain Czaba Maczala said that after giving commands to the man the responding officers perceived a threat and and “engaged the individual in gunfire.”

South Point Market is at the 3600 Block of Needles Highway and is next to the small local gaming place, Beside the Pointe.  The suspect was shot on James Bilbray which intersects with Needles Highway beside South Pointe Market. 

Early Saturday morning multiple police cars, investigators, and police line tape blocked off the area.  By 9 am. Saturday morning, when we went past the store both places appeared to be open for business as usual.

South Pointe Market was the scene of two robberies earlier this month on January 16th and 18th.
