Uncle Bo's BBQ in Bullhead City, AZ

Bullhead City, AZ.
"BBQ Road Trip" from Laughlin, Nevada

Uncle Bo's BBQ

On one of our not-too-frequent trips across the border into Bullhead City we remembered Uncle Bo's had recently opened.  So we made a quick pit stop for late lunch - early dinner.
The first thing you notice are the grills, smokers and outdoor pit in front of Uncle Bo's.  This alone has a promise of good BBQ!

The decor in Uncle Bo's is very nice.  We had not dined at the 310 Grill (the previous occupant)  but it is obvious the inside had been remodeled.

It was too early in the day and week but the nice bar right inside the door looked good place to hang out. (forgot to get a picture)

The Uncle Bo's menu has many choices of meats, combos, and even BBQ choices by the pound.

Uncle Bo's Menu as of our visit, subject to change.

Our orders were both the combo dinners.  One Brisket (1/2 lb.) and one 1/2 slab of Baby Back Ribs. Each combo includes one 8 oz. side, a pickle spear, and a roll.  $12.99 for a one meat combo*.

The Brisket was excellent, so tender you didn't need a knife to cut it.   Our very friendly waitress provided a cup of the BBQ sauce and their Bourbon Sauce.  The Bourbon Sauce was lighter and one of the best we have had with BBQ.   The Coleslaw was just OK.  Might try something else as a side next time.

The 1/4 slab of BBQ Baby Back Ribs were among the best we have tried in the area. Tender, full of flavor, fall off the bone, and not overly covered in sauce.   The Collard Greens side was outstanding. Definitely worth a substitute instead of coleslaw as a side. The menu says all the sides are made from scratch.

*Note:  the Rib combo comes with Spare Ribs, an upgrade to Baby Back Ribs was $3 more.  But most likely well worth it.

Service was fast, friendly and above and beyond very good and helpful.  We didn't even notice until after we left that she had even "comped" us our two beers.

If it lasts, Uncle Bo's could be worthy challenger for the Best BBQ in the Tri-State area. They took over the location that had previously housed several restaurants, most recenlty the 310 Grill.

Riverview Mall Plaza

Comedy on the Edge at the Edgewater Casino

We just noticed the price jumped from $10 to $15 a ticket (plus fees) for Comedy on the Edge at the Edgewater Casino.  $10 was a nice price for the show.

They also seem to be calling the venue the Showroom now. Previously it was called the Inferno Room.  Perhaps the change led to the price increase.

Regardless of the price jump, this week they have Spencer Dobson with Akeem Woods performing
February 24-26th  -  7pm show.
Age 18+ show.

Desert Clean Up - Bullhead City, AZ

Bullhead City, AZ
Here is a press release about an upcoming desert clean up effort by our neighbors just across the river.
----------

Bullhead City Press Release
Desert Clean Up

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ, February 15, 2017 – Volunteers are needed for an upcoming clean-up in the desert along North Oatman and Silver Creek Roads, east of the Bullhead Parkway. The clean-up is scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, at 7 am. If you are interested in helping to beautify our desert, join us at the northeast and southeast corners of the Bullhead Parkway and Silver Creek Road.

A lot of equipment is being provided for hauling away the trash that will be removed, but you are asked to bring along such things as gloves, a rake, or anything you can easily carry from site to site and that would be useful in gathering debris. Be sure to start hydrating the day before and wear comfortable shoes. The City will be providing water and pizza, to those that volunteer.

There will be some removal of  large items, such as tires, dumped furniture, shot-up TV’s and microwaves, etc., but much of what needs removed are smaller items, such as piles and piles of shot bullet casings from people who have done target shooting in the area but have not bothered to clean-up after themselves.

Volunteers can stay as long as they like. There is no specific commitment in time required.  Every little bit of help will be appreciated.  Civic-minded groups are welcome. Individuals who have an appreciation for keeping our desert clean and beautiful are welcome. People with ATV’s are encouraged to participate, because we do have need for the ability to get down into the wash along Silver Creek Road.  Over 30 individual clean-up sites have been identified.

The Desert Clean Up is being organized through a joint effort of the City of Bullhead City, Arizona Game & Fish, Bureau of Land Management, Mohave County’s ERASE program, and Republic Services.

If you have an interest, please call Janice Paul at 928-763-0122 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays for more information.

Buzzers Wanted - Laughlin Buzz

Laughlin Buzz wants you!

We are looking for Volunteers who may be interested in becoming unofficial, "official" Contributing Buzzers.

Unfortunately, sometimes we can't get out to all the various events, see everything, or participate in all that is going on in the area.  And we can only visit so many restaurants, hotels, or casinos in a month.

If you like to write or share your photographs, we would love to have you contribute.

This can include reviews or articles of restaurants, concerts, shows, casinos, hotels, events, sights, attractions, or just about anything related to Laughlin.

Open to Everyone!
You don't have to be local resident either, visitors are welcome to share their experiences, trip reports, or just an article about your latest visit.

As a volunteer, this contribution can be as often or as little as you wish.  Or even just 1 time!

Contact us here  or send us an email here.  Thank you!
