Laughlin Visitor Numbers for August up 0.9%, Stop 7 months of declining numbers.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) released their August 2019 visitor statistics.  Visitor Volume to Laughlin was up by 0.9% in August 2019 compared to the same period in August of 2018.

As reported by the LVCVA, there were 160,400 visitors in July 2019 compared to 159,000 in July of 2018.

Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was up 10.9%

August numbers turned around 7 consecutive months of negative visitor counts for Laughlin.

Laughlin's Visitor Volume Percentages (Increase or Decrease) thus far by month in 2019 are as follows:

January -4.2%
February -6.7%
March -3.4%
April -4.7%
May -1.1%
June -4.1%
July -3.0%
August +0.9%

For 2019 Year to Date, Laughlin visitation is still down -3.3%.

Nevada Gaming Revenue Report for Laughlin for August 2019.

Laughlin gaming revenue as reported by the Nevada Gaming Control Board was $38,782,926 for August of 2019 compared to $38,210,355 in August of 2018.

This is an increase of 1.5% and is the 4th consecutive month Laughlin Casinos have posted increases.

Eldorado Resorts to sell Harrah's Laughlin

Note: This was previously announced, however, due to a SEC filing it has made the news again.

Eldorado Resorts plans to sell Harrah's Laughlin, Harrah's Atlantic City, and Harrah's New Orleans for a total of $1.8 Billion dollars.

The buyer is VICI Properties and the agreement is dependent on Eldorado’s $17.8 billion acquisition of Caesars Entertainment, who currently own the three properties. Under that acquisition, Caesars Entertainment will merge in 2020 with Eldorado and operate under the Casears name.

The breakdown by property of the $1.8 billion sale price is:

Harrah’s Laughlin $434.75 million
Harrah’s New Orleans $775.5 million
Harrah’s Atlantic City $599.25 million,

VICI will purchase the land and property and lease the properties back to Caesars.

VICI also owns several other Casino/Hotels such as Harrah's Las Vegas, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Harrah's Tahoe, and others. See the list of VICI holdings.

Eldorado’s announcement of the sale of the three properties comes just days after Caesars announced the pending sale of the Rio in Las Vegas to Imperial Companies (another real estate firm out of New York) for $516.3 million. Caesars will also lease back the Rio for at least two years.

Eldorado also owns Tropicana Laughlin, in Laughlin, Nevada.
