November Gaming Revenue for Laughlin Down 18.97%

Operating under the Pandemic restrictions, Laughlin Casino gaming revenue as reported by the Nevada Gaming Control Board was down as expected.   The November 2020 report showed a -18.97% decrease compared to November of 2019.

Gaming Revenue in Laughlin was $33,348,032 compared to $ 41,156,771 in November of 2019. 

Laughlin Gaming Revenue Overall for 2020 so far:

January     +0.88%
February    +5.84%
March        -38.2%      (Casinos Closed March 15th)
April          -100.03%  (Casinos Closed all month)
May           -100.03%  (Casinos Closed all month)
June           -14.61%    (Casinos opened June 4th)
July            -16.95%     
August       -9.44%
Sept.          -2.68%
October     -13.27%
November -18.97%

The Laughlin result was better than the Las Vegas Strip  (down -32.46%) and Clark County as a whole (down 20.54%).   However, the Boulder Strip (which includes Henderson properties) was up 18.23%.

Laughlin Gaming Revenue Down for October 2020

As expected, due to pandemic restrictions on the Casino industry, Laughlin Casino gaming revenue as reported by the Nevada Gaming Control Board was down -13.27% for October of 2020 compared to October of 2019.  

2020 October Gaming Revenue in Laughlin was $38,569,750 compared to $44,471,301 in October of 2019. 

Laughlin Gaming Revenue Overall for 2020 so far:

April          -100.03%  (Casinos Closed all month)

June           -14.61%   (Casinos opened June 4th)

The Laughlin result was better than Clark County as a whole (-23.57%), the Las Vegas Strip  (-30.22%), and Downtown Las Vegas (-23.68%).    

Mesquite showed a positive increase of 6.81%

In Nevada (as a whole) gaming was down -19.5%

Laughlin Casino gaming revenue as reported by the Nevada Gaming Control Board was down just -2.68% for September of 2020 compared to September of 2019.  Considering the pandemic restrictions on the Casino industry this is a positive indicator.  It is the the best month-to-month comparison recorded in Laughlin since February.  

2020 September Gaming Revenue in Laughlin was $38,808,971  compared to $39,878,558  in September of 2019. 

How did Laughlin compare to other areas and locations?

The Laughlin number was much better than Clark County as a whole (-26.91%), the Las Vegas Strip  (-39.14%), and Downtown Las Vegas (-21.46%).    Nevada (as a whole) gaming was down -22.38%

Laughlin Visitor Numbers Down for August 2020

Looking at the traditional Year Over Year statistics: 

Laughlin Visitor Statistics from the LVCVA* showed a -34.2% drop for August of 2020 compared to August of 2019. 

There were 105,600 visitors compared to 160,400 last year in August.

Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was down -16.0% to $31.58 (August 2020) compared to $37.59 (August 2019).

Average Daily Room Rate (ADR) was up 12% for August 2020, compared to August 2019. 

Gaming Revenue in Laughlin for August of 2020 was down 9.44% compared to August of 2019.   



The LCVCA added a new feature to the reporting this month.  They now report Month Over Month data.  Note that Laughlin visitor volume in July 2020 was 95,500 and August Visitor Volume was 105,600. This was an increase of 10.6%

Laughlin Gaming Revenue Down for August 2020

Laughlin Casino gaming revenue as reported by the Nevada Gaming Control Board was down -9.44% for August of 2020 compared to August of 2019.  

2020 August Gaming Revenue in Laughlin was $35,122,600 compared to 38,784,996  in August of 2019. 

How did Laughlin compare to other areas and locations?

Even though the gaming revenue in Laughlin was down for the month of August, it was less than might be expected.  With the pandemic, occupancy restrictions, mask requirements, bar closures, and no live entertainment, it could of been far worse.   In fact, the Laughlin number was much better than Clark County as a whole (-25.07%), the Las Vegas Strip  (-39.19%), and Downtown Las Vegas (-21.54%).   

The Boulder Strip, which includes Henderson, NV Casinos, was up 29.62% and Mesquite was up 9.48%.

New Bridge Project in Laughlin Moves Forward

The Clark County Board of Commissioners approved item 29 on their agenda during a meeting on September 15, 2020.

This will allocate up to $40 million dollars from the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada for the construction of a new bridge project. 

Additional funding of $20,861,879 is to be provided by the Federal Highway Administration.  

Bullhead City will provide 4.5 million.  

Item 29:   Approve and authorize the Chair to sign Interlocal Contract No. 1207 between Clark County and the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada for construction for the Laughlin-Bullhead City Bridge project. (For possible action).  ACTION: APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED

Clark County (which includes Laughlin and Vegas) can reopen bars as of Sunday, September 20th at 11:59 pm

Bourbon Street Casino Bar in Laughlin River Lodge

During their meeting on September 17, 2020, Nevada's COVID-19 Mitigation and Management Task Force voted unanimously to allow bars, taverns, breweries, wineries, distilleries, etc. to open in Clark County.

Visitor Volume to Laughlin down -47.6% in July

 Laughlin, NV

Laughlin Visitor Volume Statistics from the LVCVA showed a -47.6% drop for July of 2020 compared to July of 2019.    There were 95,500 visitors compared to 182,300 last year in July.

Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was down -30% to $29.75 (July 2020) compared to $42.49 (July 2019).

Average Daily Room Rate (ADR) went up substantially by 14.2% to $64.68 in July 2020 compared to $56.65 in July of 2019  


Gaming Revenue in Laughlin for July of 2020* was down -16.95% compared to June of 2019.    July of 2020 was the first full month for gaming since February.
