Golden Nugget and Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co.

Laughlin, NV

Pictures from a visit to the Golden Nugget Laughlin and a lunch at Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co..

Service was a bit slow, given the crowd was light.
More people were sitting out on the deck than inside.

Shrimp Cocktail was very good, we were surprised there were 6 instead of the 5 shrimp per order that seems to be more the norm in restaurants these days.  The cocktail sauce was good, it had a nice scoop or horseradish to mix in.

Bubba Gump's has an early bird menu.  As we went for a very late lunch, we took advantage and ordered the Fish and Chips.  Same as the main dinner menu, just a small portion.  They were cooked just right and also very good.

Two drinks from the extensive drink menu.  We didn't know but with one they wrapped up a souvenir glass.  Prices for the drinks can run a bit high so pay attention if that matters to you.

Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co. won the Best Seafood Award

Other Dining choices in the Golden Nugget include the Saltgrass Steakhouse.  They were named Best Overall Restaurant and Best Steak in the Best of Laughlin Awards.  Plus, a winner in a few other categories.

LAUGHLIN – Assessor Briana Johnson will explain the latest current figures of Clark County’s property tax system – including caps on increases -- as it affects Laughlin businesses and residences during an upcoming Laughlin Leadership Forum sponsored by the Laughlin Economic Development Corporation.

This will include the 3% and 8% caps imposed by the Legislature. It also will include exemptions for surviving spouses, veterans (including disabled veterans), and blind persons.

Her PowerPoint program will show the county-wide and local Laughlin figures for property and improvements in both the residential category and the Casino Drive resorts, plus overall county-wide numbers. The charts and graphs will go back to the 2005-2006 fiscal year.

The public is invited to the free presentation at 5 P.M. (PST) on Thursday, March 26, at the Spirit Mountain Activity Center in Mountain View Park on the Needles Highway in Upper Laughlin.

“Our vision statement is to be the most technologically advanced, user-friendly, Assessor’s Office in the country,” Johnson said on the Clark County website page for her elected office (clarkcountynv.gov/assessor).

She will cover all the duties of the elected office – “What the assessor does, and doesn’t do,” she said.

Johnson was elected on November 6, 2018. Prior to that she was the chief assistant to Michele Shafe. Johnson has served the public for more than 20 years in the Assessor's Office. She started in 1995 and held various positions in the Appraisal Division, including Manager of Property Appraisal, prior to being promoted to Assistant Director of Assessment Services in 2016.

She is a Clark County native who graduated from high school in the Vegas Valley and earned her degree at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

Beyond Casino Drive - Jackpot Joanie's

Laughlin, Nevada

Laughlin Buzz

If you venture off Casino Drive, Jackpot Joanie's is just one of the "Local" Gaming Taverns you can visit.

There are about 15 machines on a bartop, plus chairs and tables around it.  Food is served featuring a small, inexpensive menu with standard bar type food available.

The person working was very friendly (we were pretty sure her name may have been Joanie), offered us a menu and drink right away. We didn't try the food this time.

Jackpot Joanie's has a whiteboard listing recent Jackpots.  Unfortunately, we were not one of them, but we played for a couple hours and took out a profit.

Jackpot Joanie's is located in the Laughlin Town Center Plaza complex on Needles Hwy in Laughlin.  The place definitely has a locals feel to it.  If you looking for something new, give them a try.

Jackpot Joanie's did pick up the Bronze award in the recent
Best of Laughlin Awards for Best Local/Small Casino or Bar
