Aquarius Casino Resort Now Charging Resort Fees In Laughlin

Laughlin, NV

Resort Fees have made it into Laughlin.  Again.  The latest hotel/casino to join the Resort Fee money grab is the Aquarius Casino Resort.

A newly instituted Resort Fee of  $10 per day plus $1.25 tax has been implemented at the Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin.

For a year or so the Aquarius proclaimed NO Resort Fees and Free WiFi signs on their property.  No more, at least for the Resort Fee.

The Aquarius was purchased as part of a deal that closed last October by Las Vegas based Golden Entertainment. They now own the Stratosphere and two Arizona Charlies properties in Las Vegas, as well as the Aquarius.

Stratosphere's resort fees are now up to $37.40 per day.

Arizona Charlies, previously had no resort fees but are now $18.07 and $11.32 per day at the Decatur and Boulder locations, respectively. If you have been to these Arizona Charles properties you know there certainly are not Resorts and there definitely should not be these kinds of fees for what you get there.

Here is the breakdown of the Aquarius Resort Fee currently listed as of 5-4-18 on their website:

The Aquarius Casino Resort
Resort Fee is $10.00 plus tax $1.25 per day.  Total = $11.25 per day.

Resort Fee Includes These Values:
Access to Fitness center;
Access to Resort Pool;
Unlimited Local and 800# calls;
Self and Valet parking;
Earn 300 base slot points and receive $10 in free slot play per stay;
Earn 400 base table game points and receive $10 in free slot play per stay;

Given that the Aquarius is much bigger and nicer than the two Arizona Charlies properties, it is our prediction that this starting resort fee at the Aquarius will be increased soon enough.  Already the Arizona Charles on Decatur is charging $18.07 (including tax) per day.  It's hard to believe the Aquarius won't rise that much or more too.

Laughlin isn't Vegas and their customers/clientele are not similar to Las Vegas.  However now that the Resort Fees are creeping into the market, they will most likely spread to the rest of the properties. Already Harrah's Laughlin, Colorado Belle, Edgewater, and Riverside (as of May 25th) have Resort Fees.

Golden Nugget Laughlin and Tropicana Laughlin are both owned by Corporations that have properties elsewhere with Resort Fees, so look for them to add resort fees next.  That will leave only the Laughlin River Lodge and the Avi as hold outs. The Pioneer has new owners, and as of today no gaming license and no resort fees.

In comparison here is a similar breakdown of the Resort Fees at the other properties owned by Golden Entertainment.

The Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower
Resort Fee is $32.99 plus tax $4.41 per day. Total = $37.40 per day

Resort Fee Includes These Values:
$5 Monday - Thursday and $10 Friday - Sunday admission per person to the Stratosphere Tower (50% off retail price)*;
Unlimited admission to the Stratosphere Fitness Center during stay;
Unlimited admission to the Resort Pool;
Daily self/valet parking
In-room local and 1-800 calls;
All-Day Thrill Ride Pass for the discounted price of $28*;
$20 discount for SkyJump*;
25% discount for tickets to see MJ LIVE*;
50% discount for tickets to L.A. Comedy Club*;
2-for-1 Drink coupon valid at any Stratosphere-owned Bar.

Arizona Charlies Boulder
Resort Fee is $10.00 plus tax $1.32 per day.  Total = $11.32 per day.

Resort Fee Includes These Values:
Unlimited in-room and 1-800 calls;
Copy service and fax service for domestic and 1-800 numbers;
Boarding pass printing

Arizona Charlies Decatur
Resort Fee is $15.99 plus tax $2.08 per day.  Total = $18.07 per day.

Resort Fee Includes These Values:
2 bottles of water per stay;
Self and Valet Parking;
Unlimited in-room and 1-800 calls;
Unlimited fax/copy services;
Boarding pass printing;
In room coffee & refrigerator

Laughlin isn't Vegas, and the customers, visitors, and even local area residents are not similar to Las Vegas.  The impact this Resort Fee issue has remains to be seen.  For the most part the reaction is not positive on the Laughlin Buzz Social Media groups such as this one on Facebook.   Stop by and share your thoughts.
