Laughlin Restaurant Inspections for October 2018

Laughlin, NV

Southern Nevada Health District inspections performed thus far in Laughlin for October of 2018  showed only one establishment receiving a grade less than an "A".

The Red Mango / Cinnabon located at Harrah's Laughlin received a B grade with 20 demerits on October 19, 2018.   Violations are shown in the graphic from the SNHD site below:

*See important information about the inspection process and timeliness of posting of results by SNHD.

A restaurant may have been inspected or re-inspected (in the case of a low grade) since the data was posted.  When a re-inspection is done the list of violations/demerits from the prior low grade is no longer viewable.

All restaurants are required to have their latest grade certificate displayed for the public to see.  If you don't see one, ask.

The following shows the other Laughlin restaurants inspected thus far in October of 2018.

*About the inspection process:
An "A" grade is the top grade an establishment can receive. Demerits over 40 usually result in temporary closure.  Generally, if any grade less than an A is received the restaurant can and does have a re-inspection shortly thereafter. There is a short lag time between when the inspections are performed and when they appear on the Southern Nevada Health District Website.

You can visit the  SNHD  website or download their App to look up restaurants in Laughlin or anywhere in Southern Nevada. There is a search feature.  For Laughlin use Zipcode 89029.

Southern Nevada Fishing Report Oct. 24, 2018

Laughlin
Anglers are catching stocked rainbow trout in the 12-inch class. The fish are taking PowerBait and spinners from below Davis Dam to the Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area. Stripers weighing from 1 to 3 pounds are picking up anchovies fished off the bottom, but stripers pushing 5 to 8 pounds are hitting top-water lures and jerkbaits.

Lake Mohave
With the return of warm temperatures, catfish and black bass are active and biting. Look for both largemouth and smallmouth bass in the back of coves around Cottonwood Basin. They are hitting crawdads and plastic worms. Colors vary depending on water clarity. Willow Beach has been sluggish, but 3-pound stripers are taking anchovies.

Lake Mead
Water temperatures are hovering near 65 and that has all our warm water species biting. Black bass are biting out of Callville Bay on silver colored crankbaits. Outside of Government Wash, anglers are catching striped bass with trout imitation swimbaits. Government Wash has been good for threadfin and gizzard shad. Catfish have been active and biting on anchovies fished off of shelves from shore in the evening.

Laughlin
Action has improved slightly for the striped bass in the area. After the trout plants, anglers have found greater success using trout imitation lures to catch stripers, although anchovies still remain the top bait. Trout are dispersing from the stocking sites and in the area of Sunshine Peninsula. Anglers are catching near-limits using spinners and nightcrawlers.

Lake Mohave
Anglers have had fair success working the coves. Largemouth bass are taking plastics in darker colorations in about 25 feet of water. Catfish have been hitting on anchovies at night from shore or boat by the dam. The striped bass, while rather elusive for some, have been found to take topwater baits as the sun hits the water.

Lake Mead
Striper have been out at sunrise and sunset. Various swimbaits and threadfin shad are bringing in smallmouth and largemouth bass in the evening. Boulder Basin continues to be a hot spot, with anglers trolling through the Boulder Beach area. Smallmouth bass are still hitting, mostly near rocky shelves and points like the Boulder Islands.

Laughlin
Fishing remains fair for striped bass and catfish in the areas of Big Bend, Community Park and Casino Row. According to Rusty at Riviera Marina, Casino Row produced a 9-pound striper, and the Community Park area gave up a 17-pounder. Anchovies have garnered the best response. Some of the best fishing is stocked rainbow trout. Most of the fish are being caught below the stocking points at Rotary Park and Davis Camp, but the trout are beginning to disperse along the river. Night crawlers or PowerBait are good choices. Hardware options include Li’l Jakes, Rooster Tails, Panther Martins and Mepp’s spinners.

Lake Mohave
Fishing reports have been light, but conditions are right for tight lines. Anglers are finding success in the backs of coves. Catfish can be found cruising the shallows at night and will take night crawlers, stink baits or chicken livers. Striped bass have been a little more elusive, but fishing with anchovies in the late afternoon has been effective. Rainbow trout are biting on PowerBait and Woolly Buggers below Willow Beach.

Lake Mead
Cooler weather is here to stay, and that has anglers finding moderate success for stripers, catfish and smallmouth bass. Afternoons have been better than the morning hours. Jigging and trolling have been effective means of catching striped bass. Drop shots have been pulling smallmouth bass from around cliff walls, rocky points or areas with submerged weed beds. Catfish are active at night in the backs of coves and are hitting on various baits, such as hot dogs and chicken livers.

The "not" 99 Cent Shrimp Cocktail at the Big Easy Colorado Belle

Laughlin, NV
Colorado Belle Casino
Big Easy Deli

You can't find a 99 cent Shrimp Cocktail in the Casinos anymore.    The next best thing is getting one "free with comps".   Like this one at the Big Easy Deli in the Colorado Belle in Laughlin.

The Big Easy Deli has soups, salads, and both hot and cold deli-style sandwiches. Plus various desserts and even smoothies.

We often get dining credit (comps) from even minimal play at the Edgewater or Colorado Belle.   Redeeming them at the Big Easy Deli is a good option.

We even won 50 dollars playing a Dragon penny slot before that. Plus two drinks and a Corona to BYOB to the Deli.   Drink service on the floor was amazingly fast too.

La Villita in the Laughlin River Lodge

Laughlin, NV

La Villita is one of the Casinos within the Casino at the Laughlin River Lodge.  We visit it every so often when we go to the LRL,    The bartenders are always very friendly and welcoming.  On a recent stop this was no different.

They have a good selection of beer and great Frozen Mango Margaritas.  We played some video poker and keno for awhile and then tried the Quesadillas and Chicken Tacos off the menu.   Both were very good and a nice low price.

Drinks are comped if you are playing, but even if you are not they are very inexpensive.

We didn't win on the machines, but luckily right before we left had a small hit and won back all we lost plus paid for lunch.   Great drinks, wonderful staff, good drinks, and prices.  Definitely worth stopping in.

More Pictures of
from an earlier visit.
