Sunrise over Colorado River Laughlin

Laughlin, NV

Laughlin has amazing sunrises and sunsets over the Colorado River and Mountains.   The view changes quite fast moment to moment as the sun moves.  These were taken on 1-19-2015 from the Laughlin Riverwalk looking across the river toward Bullhead City, AZ.

The Tropicana Laughlin is the only Casino/Hotel on Casino Drive that is not on the Riverwalk side.

Sunset behind it in the evening are often spectacular too.  Below is a shot of the morning shortly after sunrise.

El Chilito Rojo coming to Laughlin Outlet Mall

We heard that a new Mexican restaurant was coming to the food court at the Laughlin Outlet Mall. 

Not long after this the new owner*, Priceless Outlets, shared the news on Twitter and Facebook.   

El Chilito Rojo will be going in the spot that was formerly held by McDonalds (closed a long time ago).  

That will put the food court at 4 vendors with Rice Garden, Mia's Pizza, and Kappastrami rounding out the choices.  

No word on an opening date for El Chilito Rojo, but it should be announced soon.

*The Laughlin Outlet mall was sold in October of last year.  Read the details here. 

Update -  12/2016: El Chilito Rojo opened and already closed.

Dierks Bentley at Laughlin Event Center in April

 Dierks Bentley will perform in Laughlin on Saturday, April 11th (2015).

Award winning singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley career continues to grow.  His album Riser has already had two consecutive Number One hits with "Drunk On A Plane and "I Hold On".  Dirk Bentley's six previous studio albums have sold more than 5million copies. Along the way he has earned 11 GRAMMY nominations, countless CMA, ACM and CMT nominations and membership at the Grand Ole Opry.

He will be joined with special guests Logan Mize and Clare Dunn.  The show starts at 7pm.

Tickets for all shows can be obtained at the Laughlin Event Center website or check with local Casino/Hotels for packages/tickets.

Great "winter" weather hit Laughlin the last few days.

Laughlin River Lodge
After the opening of the gaming at the LRL (Laughlin River Lodge) not much new changed through the holiday's.   On January 8th we heard they were busy giving the hotel tower a much needed paint job.  We can only hope that the new sign is going up next, very soon!

Dunkin Donuts at the Edgewater

We have reported the progress of the upcoming opening of the Dunkin Donuts in the Edgewater Casino.  Now it looks like the opening date will be around January, 19th.  No official word yet but they held a job fair last month and the work seems to be done.  Signs/Menus are in place.

Aquarius Casino Resort Getting a Face Lift

Update:  1-12-2015  
The sign is almost completely dismantled.  Here is how it looked this morning.

The Neon sign of the Aquarius before work began this week. 

We were in and out of Laughlin since the 28th of December and came back to several changes happening.

Earlier we reported they had started to repave and improve the look of the Riverwalk behind the Casino.   They completed one section before the Holidays.

Now they are back at it again, removing the circle outside the rear (Riverwalk) entrance and making changes to the neon sign out front.

The main entrance and old valet area is now closed.  So is the handicap parking.  They have put several handicap parking spots in the first row of the parking lot opposite the parking garage.

Valet is being done to the far left behind the tower.  To enter the Casino you have to go down the corridor between the right tower and the garage and enter the side doors.

It appears they are replacing the neon sign.  Time will tell what the new look will be....

Sadly, the pieces of the sign are being piled in the parking lot by the dumpster. 

 They have also taken all the neon that lined the ceiling before the row of doors at the entrance.

Work also continues on the Riverwalk side of the Casino - Hotel 

This first set of photos were from a day ago.  

Just today, 1-9-15, they are making good progress already.  
Here are photo's taken and how it looked this afternoon.

You can still access the Riverwalk from the Aquarius but not through the doors where the circle was.  Use the doors by the Cove Bar or the Buffet.

We wonder if this neon will be removed as well?

Also, you cannot get to the Edgewater, can only go in the direction of the Riverside. 

That is sure to change soon as they are making fast progress on this project.

Snow in Laughlin

A rare event happened at the end of 2014 in Laughlin -- snow!

And we missed it.  We were in Las Vegas during and until just after the flurries hit Laughlin, Bullhead City, AZ, and the general Tri-State area.
