FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Senior Games Sign-Ups Underway

Bullhead City, Arizona (Dec. 8, 2016) — Officials with the Bullhead City Recreation Department are gearing up to light the torch to commence the Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games 2017, there is still time to sign up to participate in your favorite sport.

The Senior Games is scheduled to start on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 with opening ceremonies and end on
Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017. A special closing ceremony will be held at the end of each week to honor the athletes with a presentation of medals.

Individuals interested in participating in specialized games, such as, basketball, pickelball, bingo, golf, beanbags (cornhole) and swimming can do so for a one-time fee of $30. Special hotel rates begin at $18 per night in Laughlin. The games will take place over the course of a three week period and across both sides of the river. All competitions are open to those aged 50 and older. All athletes will receive an official T-shirt, swag bag filled with vendor samples and exclusive coupons, access to health screenings, refreshments at each event and entry into the opening and closing ceremonies.

The creation of the Senior Games can be attributed to the collaboration of city officials and Laughlin
Casino Presidents, who saw an opportunity several years ago to bring a well-organized event into the Tri-State community during the winter season.

“Bullhead City’s economy relies on tourism and special events;” said Toby Cotter, City Manager. “This new major event has been in the works for nearly two years. We’ve heard about other successful senior games throughout the nation, but very few areas can offer the amenities of our region, especially in January.”

For those wanting to try their hand at some casino games, poker and blackjack are among the events
being offered across the river. There is also bowling and bingo available too.

“Our goal is to have 10,000 participating athletes by year three of the Bullhead City/ Laughlin Senior
Games,” commented Cotter. “We know the area can accommodate this event and I predict it will become the largest Senior Games in America.”

For more information on participating, volunteering and/or attending, visit the Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games at http://www.seniorgames.co or contact the recreation staff at 855-924-6882. Registration for all events is now open.
