Prime Rib Room at the Riverside in Laughlin

Restaurant Review
Prime Rib Room
Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort and Casino

We had not been to the Prime Rib room in a year and a half. A friend suggested we try it before a movie. She didn't care for any of the other options to eat at the Riverside Resort.  The last time we had been there it was just average.  We went in with a positive attitude that this time it would be better.  We were not disappointed.  It was better than our previous visit -- until later*, but more on this in a bit.

The service was good, the view of the Colorado River was nice.  You are served your prime rib but have to go up to the "buffet" to get your salad bar, potato, etc..  Everything seemed fairly fresh, the cheese rolls/bread were good.  Our prime rib was cooked exactly as ordered, was flavorful and much better than other discount prime ribs we have had.  Definitely better than the last time we had visited.

After reading so many not so good reviews we suspect the Prime Rib Room might be one of those hit or miss type of places. You might get a good cut cooked right on one visit and perhaps not so good the next time.  For about 15 dollars a person the value is pretty good.  It is fairly comparable to what you ca get elsewhere for Prime Rib in Laughlin.

Even though the restaurant was busy (Vicki Lawrence pre-show fans dining) we got in right away and service was good.  Desserts were just OK, nothing special.  You can use comps earned on your Riverside players card if you have them. Chicken or fish is also an option if you don't want Prime Rib.  Keep in mind though, it's not called the Chicken or Fish Room.  We have a general rule to go with the items the restaurant is branded for.

*Now for the bad.  By the next morning one of the people in our group ended up having to go to the ER for severe stomach cramping, virus, and other unpleasant side effects. Chances are it was not from the food (or the "salad bar") since they were the only one sick.  It may have just been a unrelated stomach virus or flu.  She, however, has sworn off the Prime Rib room and just about all buffets for the immediate future. Needless to say it's buyer beware and eating out anywhere can have a certain amount of risk.

The Prime Rib Room Hours are currently listed as:
Sunday through Thursday 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday & Saturday 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM
As always check ahead, things change often on Casino Drive.
