Laughlin Standoff and Robbery Suspect in Cuffs

Laughlin, NV

Needles Hwy / El Mirage Way

The suspect in the robbery of the 76 gas station on Needles Hwy in Laughlin is in custody. Apparently the robbery took place around 7:30AM.

He was hiding at the Colorado Bay apartments near El Mirage and Needles Hwy by the Catholic Church.  Swat Teams from Las Vegas, local Las Vegas Metro Police, Bullhead City Police, K9 unit, plus many others responded and he was apprehended without incident or harm to anyone.  Congrats to all the Law Enforcement parties involved for a quick, safe, and well executed response.

There is no confirmation to the speculation that this may have been the same person who robbed Aldapes Market earlier this month.

Update on developing story:
Police have named the suspect- Steven Alaniz.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal:
“He got away with less than $300,” said Donna Sebolt, a cashier at the Mobil station. She said she was not sure if the man was armed.   The robber’s disguise — a black bandana over his face and a pair of sunglasses — was “not very good,” Sebolt said.
“He was very calm,” she said. “It was very strange.”
