2014 Community Achievement Award Winners



Laughlin, Nevada

The 17th Annual Community Achievement Awards banquet took place last night at the the Aquarius Casino Resort.

Fred Doten was named Citizen of the Year 

Fred Doten is the Chairman of the Laughlin Town Advisory Board as well as a member of the Public Works Committee. He is the Commander and historian for American Legion Post 60 and serves at the district, state and national levels. He also is  active in VFW Post 243, Purple Heart Post 730, the Disabled American Veterans, West Point Society of Las Vegas and Elks Lodge 2872.

Spirit of Arizona Award
Jack Hakim, Bullhead City Mayor

Spirit of the Colorado River Award

Public Service Award
Emily Fromelt, Bullhead City Police Department

Civic Service Award
Kathleen Bruck, Bullhead City Council Member

Humanitarian Award 
Shelley Gibson

Community/Social Service Organization Award  
WestCare

Educator of the Year 
Alise Andrews, Laughlin Junior/Senior High School, performing arts teacher

Tourism Award
Jeff Pfeiffer, Exec. V.P. / General Manager of the Colorado Belle and Edgewater Casino Resorts

Small Business of the Year
Sunridge Village

Large Business of the Year
Aquarius Resort Casino

Communications Award
Lance Ross, Valley View Medical Center (Fort Mohave) director of community relations and marketing

Green Business Award
Harrah’s Laughlin was named winner of the Green Business Award.

Entrepreneur Award
Cassandra Schuster, owner and operator of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory of Laughlin
